My Experience (2019 update)
A few years back we tested this compressor and wrote a review. Now, I just wanted to refresh your memory about this great product so I borrow it from my sister’s husband and used it for a while. Here’s what I have to say about this Iwata Series Smart Jet air compressor.
My sister’s husband always says that buying this product was one of the smartest decisions he made in his life. He even compares it to asking my sister to marry him. She’s a catch, and this product is a catch!
The compressor hose-end uses the standard 1/8” connections, so beside the included Iwata, I also got adapters to connect it to a Badger, Paasche and Aztek airbrushes. I must say, I liked this versatility that the manufacturer offered. The hoses and fitting use O-rings and are sealed finger tight, but if you want to connect a non-Iwata product you will have to employ a few wraps of Teflon tape in order to get a good seal. So, if you have tape, this isn’t a problem.
For me, this unit is light weight and very compact so it is easy to carry it around when needed. While working I don’t need a lot of pressure, usually around 20 – 24 PSI, so it is perfect for me. If you need higher pressure, this isn’t for you. You can stop reading and move on to the next product. The compressor has an auto shut-off and an instant startup and does not take walks during the operation like my previous one.

Like every wife, this product has some flaws. I instantly noticed that the unit does not have a regulator, but solved this quickly by getting one. The unit is family and neighbor’s approved as it runs no louder than an electric toothbrush.
If your work requires the pressure range that this Iwata product offers, you don’t need to search anymore. Compact compressor, easy to use, made to last. Highly recommended.
